About Breast Enlargement Plastic Surgery
For this one-hour surgery, you will be given general anesthesia and will remain asleep during the entire breast enhancement procedure. Dr. DeLozier will make a small incision. You have two incision options:
- Periareolar (around the edge of the nipple)
- Inframammary (under the breast)- the most common incision site
Through the incision, he will insert breast implants either in front of or behind the muscle wall. Insertion behind the muscle wall is sometimes preferred to reduce the chance of rupture. After implant placement, Dr. DeLozier stitches the incision site closed.
Recovery
Breast enlargement surgery patients report some pain as they recover from the procedure. Dr. DeLozier will prescribe medication to combat any discomfort. You will need rest the first day but may feel up to walking around by the day after surgery. The gauze and surgical dressings applied during surgery will be removed within a few days. You should not lift more than 10 pounds for the first two weeks of your recovery. Your nipples may be sore for a week, and your breast area may be bruised and tender. This tenderness and bruising should go away within a few weeks. Scars fade over the course of a few months.
